Thirty years ago, Brenda King was out shopping and saw a gentleman holding a Toy Poodle in his arms and she was smitten by this little dog and wanted one of her own.  After raising a family, the time was right and she found her first Toy Poodle five years ago for a pet.  Then a year later, she and her husband, James, were driving around on a Saturday afternoon and noticed that there was a dog show nearby their home and thought it would be fun to go see what it was all about.  They found themselves at the Toy Poodle ring and knew from that moment that they were destined to have one of their own Toy Poodles in the ring.  That was the beginning of a hidden passion for the two of them and a hobby at which they both could share and take pleasure.  Brenda set her mind to searching for a show Toy and now, in 2008, has the beginnings of a very fine Toy Poodle breeding program with five finished Champions and one waiting for her time in the ring.  She can frequently be found ringside at the shows holding dogs, helping her handler whenever possible.

As a recently retired Executive Assistant for Hewlett Packard, Brenda utilizes her skills and applies them to studying pedigrees, conformation and the intricate points of breeding these wonderful little dogs which bring so much joy to our lives.  With the goal of producing Champions and excellent companions, coupled with a deep love of the Toy Poodle breed.

Located near Houston, Texas, Darlen's Toy Poodles represents a very small selection of excellent pedigrees in Silver, White, and Black Toy Poodles for both show and companion Toy Poodles.  All Toy Poodles are health tested and have superior temperaments and conformation.  Each litter is carefully planned and honestly represented.  The show ring shall be the proving ground for structure and temperament of Darlen's Toy Poodle puppies after rigorous evaluation out of the whelping box.  Whether one is looking for a show quality Toy Poodle or one to grace your arms and sit in your lap, these lovingly raised Toys are perfectly suited for both.  There is no kennel nor are any of the dogs kept in crates, as they spend their days as companions and nights sleeping on the bed.  Puppies are raised in the home and have constant attention from Brenda, from birth to insure the best possible start in life and socialization towards their futures, either in the ring or in a companion home.
